Is Limeware safe?
Limeware is a free peer-to-peer (p2p) file sharing program which uses the Grutella Network to locate and share files. Many people ask whether Limeware is safe to use or not but in my opinion, there is no correct answer. The majority would agree however that it is advisable that you do not use Limewire to download and share files because peer-to-peer file sharing programs like Limewire are safe havens for spyware developers. There is absolutely no one to monitor and scan files for viruses and spyware therefore anyone can easily insert malicious codes along with the actual file.
Limeware is also a popular program which people utilize to download music for free. Let me warn you now. Sharers can easily trace your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and use this information to threaten or sue you with prosecution therefore it is hugely advisable that you do not use Limewire to download music or any other licensed file.
So why did I say that there is no correct answer to the question of whether Limeware is safe or not? Because Limewire is not used just for the above purposes. It can be used to share files between two legitimate users. Genuine companies may also utilize p2p programs like Limewire to share out important files and updates. It is just a matter of how you use Limewire and other peer-to-peer program which determines your vulnerability to spyware and other security loopholes.
If you insist on using Limewire then ensure that you scan every file you download before you execute them. This will at least help you find out whether there are any traces of malicious codes in the files you download.
